Eaves Hall In Clitheroe, Ribble Valley
Frankie & Russell’s Wedding
Lancashire Wedding at Eaves Hall, Clitheroe
Eaves Hall in Clitheroe has become one of those venues I’m always genuinely happy to be heading back to. I’m there a fair bit these days, but it never stops feeling special. That first drive up to the hall still does it every time. The building itself, the interiors and the gardens all work together perfectly, and it creates a place that feels elegant without ever feeling over the top or intimidating.
It’s the kind of venue where guests are impressed the moment they arrive, but still feel totally at ease once they’re inside. Everything flows really naturally, which makes a huge difference to how a wedding day feels. From a photography point of view, Eaves Hall is a bit of a dream. There’s always great light, loads of space, and no shortage of beautiful backdrops. Whether it’s relaxed moments indoors, portraits out on the grounds, or that soft golden-hour light wrapping around the building, it’s a venue that just works — whatever the season, whatever the weather.
The Wedding Day At Eaves Hall
Frankie & Russell chose full-day coverage, so I was with them right from the start of the day through to the evening celebrations (And a little bit longer). I began the morning with Frankie and their kids, capturing the getting-ready moments as everything slowly came together. These early hours are always some of my favourites. They’re usually calm, slightly chaotic in the best way, and full of those small moments that help tell the story properly from the beginning. I Also love that these are moments the other side of the wedding won’t see until the final gallery is ready to view.
Even though it was peak summer, Frankie & Russell decided to keep the ceremony indoors, and it turned out to be a great call. The room was filled with soft natural light, giving everything a calm, intimate feel. From the very start, laughter was the running theme of the day. It cropped up throughout the ceremony and set the tone for everything that followed. For me, that’s ideal. Real reactions and genuine emotion always beat anything staged. Later in the day this was especially seen in the speeches with Frankie’s father holding back no punches with his jokes.
From Drinks To The Dance Floor
After the ceremony, everyone headed outside into the gardens for drinks, and this is where Eaves Hall really comes into its own. Guests naturally spread out, catching up, laughing and enjoying the space, which makes it perfect for relaxed, unobtrusive photography. Nothing feels forced and moments just happen as I’m walking around, dipping in and out from groups.
We set off for a stroll around the grounds for Frankie & Russell’s couple photos, keeping things simple and natural. No big poses, no disappearing for ages. I think this is exactly what couples want on their wedding day, getting all the photographs we need without dreading the experience or feeling they have to act a certain way. As the day moved into the wedding breakfast and speeches, the laughter only ramped up. At times, the room was in hysterics. It was one of those sets of speeches where the humour just gets to everyone, and they’re always a joy to photograph.
As the evening sets in, Eaves Hall changed pace once again and the party properly kicked off. From the first dance to a packed dance floor later on, the energy didn’t dip. Frankie & Russell’s is just one example of what makes Eaves Hall such a popular Lancashire wedding venue — Relaxed flow to the day of events, and an atmosphere that encourages real interactions.
