Ashton Memorial in Lancashire

Ashton Memorial, an iconic landmark set within the stunning surroundings of Williamson Park, providing a picturesque backdrop for any wedding celebration. When you first arrive you’re greeted by the grandeur of the memorial, with its striking dome and beautifully detailed interior that is absolutely perfect for indoor wedding ceremonies.

This was my first time at Ashton Memorial and it really did live up to what I had previously seen online and from other photographers. The area is just filled with photographic spots that are ideal for both weddings and couples shoots. The whole interior gets filled with light from all sides that offers this diffused and some what elegant light. It’s even worth noting how amazing the detailed marble work is (Especially across the flooring), it really adds something that many manor house venues, as awesome as they are, just can not compete with.

The Couples Shoot

I challenge a wedding photographer to not take great photographs at and around Ashton Memorial, the area just offers up background after background for couples shoots in a way that just makes it so enjoyable. We wanted to capture the grandeur of the architecture and really focuse on wider expanses whilst positioning the bride and groom strategically around the staircases of the venue. I feel overall this really worked paired with dramatic and moody skies on this day, an overly sunny day with clear skies just would not of worked the same.

The Mill at Condor Green

After their ceremony at Ashton Memorial, Laura and Harry opted for the wedding reception to be held at The Mill at Condor Green, a lovely venue placed on the canal side that’s got a superb space for the wedding breakfast, speeches and of course, the all important first dance and evening party. Throughout these key events at weddings is prime time for me to be capturing guests candidly, being themselves. The natural, unposed photographs are what I strive for here.
